Problems & solutions
The schedule records only percentages, not which beams and columns
Excel progress maps to the model by element ID and is colored by construction stage
Owners check progress element by element by color, and the site doesn't have to produce separate diagrams
A new system means changing formats and re-entering reports, adding to the site's workload
Import any Excel file with ID, stage, and date columns; add other columns as you like
Re-import after each Excel update and the model colors update with it
Photos and reports are spread across messaging apps, so proof is hard to find later
Each progress entry can carry photos or PDFs; click an element to see the record for each stage
Dates, source files, and photos are kept with the element and can be pulled up any time
Subcontractor interfaces and construction sequence exist only as text, leaving nothing to rely on in disputes
Draw construction zones on the model; import zone progress and color by stage
Scope of responsibility and construction sequence appear in the model view, giving coordination a clear reference
Standing in front of an element, you can't tell which stage it's at
Print QR labels from the progress list and post them on the elements on site
A phone scan shows each stage and its date, and can locate the element in the model
Features
Progress management
Import Excel schedule
Keep using your existing Excel schedule. Any file with ID, stage, and date columns can be imported, and you can add columns such as type, vendor, and remarks. Preview before importing; afterward, see how many entries were matched, unmatched, and updated.
Color scheme
Set up construction stages, map them to the model by element ID, and color by construction stage. Filtered records can be applied directly, with other elements faded.
Progress list
Filter progress records by ID, stage, and date range, then locate, edit, or delete them. Each entry can carry up to 20 photos or PDFs, and you can add entries yourself by clicking an element on the model.
Element progress history
Click a colored element to list the construction stages it has been through, with dates, status, and source Excel file.
Print element QR labels
Filter the elements to print from the progress list and generate a QR label PDF to post on site. Site staff scan with their personal accounts to see the date of each stage and locate the element in the model.
Construction zones
Draw construction zones on the model as areas, lines, or points and number them. After you import an Excel file with zone progress, each zone is colored by its latest stage, and clicking a zone shows its history.
Layer scheme
Use element properties to define layer rules, then show, hide, or color each layer. For example, show only steel columns or only curtain wall units.
Basic operations
Element lookup
Click an element to list the data imported from the model.
Grid lines
Show or hide reference grid lines.
Plan mode
Switch to a top-down plan view.
Measure
Click two points on the model to measure the distance.
Section box
Cut the model open with a section box to see the elements inside.
Model brightness
Adjust how bright the model appears; reset it any time.
Exploded view
Pull elements outward by layer to see how the model fits together.
Screen capture
Save the current view as an image, ready to drop into the owner's monthly report.
Rotate model
Rotate the model to any angle, and restore the original angle at any time.
vs. traditional methods
Progress maps to the model by element ID and is colored by construction stage, so you can verify down to the element
Keeps your existing Excel schedule; ID, stage, and date columns are all you need to import
Photos and PDFs attached to each progress entry; click an element to pull them up
Construction zones drawn on the model and colored by each zone's latest stage
Who it's for
General contractors and site managers
Import after each Excel update to track progress by zone, with photos as evidence.
Steel, curtain wall, and MEP subcontractors
Report erection and installation progress in Excel, and review each system with the layer scheme.
Owners and developers
Verify progress down to the element by color, and pull up photos and dates.
Supervision consultants
View element progress history and attachments, and check them against QR labels scanned on site.
